3 Ps of Homeschool Encouragement for First Time Homeschool Moms by Shanna of Raising 3 In Tennessee is full of great ideas and inspiration for new homeschoolers.
Hi! My name is Shanna Hammonds and I am a homeschool mom to three blessings. We live in Tennessee and have been homeschooling for 5 years. I have a 10, 8, and 7 year old. I blog over at Raising 3 In Tennessee, as well as own an Etsy shop called Three Shining Arrows.
We enjoy homeschoolong but that does not mean we have not had rough patches. We love the flexibility. As a family of faith, we have prayed and feel that this is the best fit for our family.
As a first time homeschool mom, you may have doubts or fears. So, I want to share with you the steps I take to walk towards a successful homeschool year. My favorite quote is 'God doesn't call the equipped, He equips the called".

3 Ps of Homeschooling Encouragement for First Time Moms

1. Pray

Being a woman of faith, prayer has always helped me feel more at peace. I will pray about curriculum and also about whether or not homeschooling is what we need to do each year. We take it year by year here at our house.
I also want to encourage you to pray with your kids. We start everyday with pray, If we have done that, we have done the most important thing.

2. Plan

Knowing what you want to do, and following through with it is having a plan. In saying that, knowing to be flexible is totally fine-it's the best thing about homeschooling. Change may need to happen but having a place to start is a great feeling.
I also want to encourage you to not GO BIG at first. Sometimes, a curriculum  or resource doesn't fit for us like we thought it would. I have spent lots of money on resources and they were not a good fit for me. Then you have to either try to sell it or wait to see if it fits another child down the road. There are SO many free resources for homeschoolers out there (but that is a whole other post!).

3. Prep

Taking time to prep and/or lesson plan is an amazing step in the right direction. When we have somewhat ( remember we are being flexible) of an idea of what we need to accomplish that day, it helps. The night before I try to get my supplies and/or any tools together so when we are ready to start, all our things are ready.
So, that is my encouragement for you today. I hope it was helpful and I know it may be simple and not very detailed, but sometimes moms need simple.
